The aim of the shared project with Psykologien Sosiaalinen Vastuu (PSV) ry - Finnish Psychologists for Social Responsibility (FiPSR) and Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) is to create a psychosocial model for helping victims of military violence, trauma and stress and reduce their harmful effects on the mental health of Palestinians. The Palestinian PMRS is to introduce psychosocial help for traumatized clients as an integrated part of all established PMRS activities. Together with the Finnish partner it provides training and education, counselling and support through all PMRS activities: the Women's Health Program, Community Health Centers, Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBR), Youth Centers and the Mobile Clinic Teams.
The aim is based on qualitative health to all and is to lead the
Palestinian people to higher level of mental health and to promote the
level of growth in all the social aspects, in addition to the emotional,
mental and the physical ones. The aim is also to facilitate Palestinian
people's lives, for the sake of overcoming difficulties. The work is
focused on three categories (children, teenagers and women) through the
strategic plans of the individual and group counselling. Therefore the
Psychosocial Health project in PMRS targets the Palestinian individuals
in all various stages and different areas, for reaching a balance state
with him/herself and his/her surroundings. This will be done through
working with him/her directly by counselling, self-construction and
treatment or through the impact on the surrounding that will indirectly
benefit the individuals.
